Wool
Cheviot
Cheviot wool is a medium wool that is soft, clean, and chalky white. It grows densely on the sheep so little dirt and vegetable matter can get into it, and with its lower grease content, it’s easier to wash and there is less loss. It has a unique helical crimp that adds loft, and it is felt-resistant, so the resulting goods are comfortable, long-lasting, and durable. Cheviot wool was used for the original Scottish tweeds. It’s good for yarn, knit goods, woven goods, and batting.
BFL × Cheviot "Mule"
The BFL cross adds fineness and a beautiful crimp and lock structure to the wool. The fleeces are more open and the staple length is longer. It still has many of the practical benefits of Cheviot wool, like ease of cleaning and spinning, but it is much more luxurious.
We offer our best fleeces, particularly from our lambs and yearlings, for sale directly to handspinners. We also process our wool into batting, naturally-dyed yarn, and other wool goods.
